[Sheflug] Foppy Freezes

Hi All,

I just saw the "Writing to a floppy" thread, and hoped it was about just
that, not emailers...

Anyway, as chance would have it, one of the users in Access Space has
just locked up a Mandrake 8.2 box by trying to access a floppy - and
this is not the first time. Quite persistently we get system freezes
(that require a power off to escape) on boxes running supermount.

Users are usually accessing the floppy via KDE - dragging and dropping
files in and out. They frequently do dumb things, like eject the floppy
while they're still viewing the directory structure with Konqueror, then
replacing it with another that's differently formatted...

Is there some configuration tactic I can employ to stop the problems? Or
if I have to write a notice to users to help them avoid problems, what
should it say? (Hopefully a little more helpful than "Don't use the
floppy drives!")

Cheers,

James
