[Sheflug] CUPS Rocks! And solves Mandrake 9.0 printing aggro.

Hi Everyone,

I just thought I'd get in touch to provide a followup to my thread
"Mandrake 9.0 printing aggro". Activating a Mandrake 8.2 CUPS print
server has solved the problem completely. I had to doctor some clients
/etc/cups/cupsd.conf very slightly (Browsing On, BrowseInterval 0) but
then the whole thing worked brilliantly!

Ahhh! Now I understand how CUPS was meant to work all along! (Our test
Mandrake 8.1 CUPS installs had a glitch that meant it was a general
pain.)

If you are running a network and you AREN'T using CUPS, then take my
advice, and change over now. The server broadcasts out all the printer
settings, so client machines pick up the server settings without your
having to intervene at all. Printer upgrade? Just configure the server,
and Robert's your father's brother.

Cheers,

James
