[Sheflug] External hot-plugable USB2 or Firewire HDs
Hi guys,
I'm wanting to buy one of the new 80 gb Hard Drives that let you
connect up to any PC without rebooting via USB2 or FireWire. The
seller doesn't think the USB2 cards are compatible with Linux,
probably only Windows (curses!).
Do any of you use USB2 (preferably) or FireWire disks with Linux?
The top hits on a google search make it all sound rather
problematic and dependent on the latest kernel (2.4.19+) plus
updates (eg. http://www.linux-usb.org/usb2.html) but I was slightly
hoping my new RH 8 installation might actually really be plug-in
and go without any hassle but... kernel=2.4.18-...
Ah well, life with linux is never dull. Any experiences?
Cheers, Jan
