No, it's still a pain in the butt.

 I've had long discussions who is working on a GUI installer but it'll 
be some time before it becomes a part of the Debian way of things.  
If you want Debian then Linux by Libranet is the easy way to do it.  
Some people even go on about Knoppix but I prefer the Libranet 
offering which is excellent.  Usually bug free.  Not had a problem 
with it.
