Oi! I use Evolution :) 

I agree with the sentiment though - pine isn't free software, and also 
has some very strange habits. pico was a reasonable editor, though, and
it did give us jico/joe/nano, so...

Mozilla is quite nice for the anti-spam stuff that is now in 1.3. Kmail,
I have no idea about, but I know that it's the focus of a lot of 
development and looks quite good. I would just pop mutt in there too,
which is what I use when I'm away from the desktop.
