	I have a vague recollection of a similar problem going back to an early
SuSE 5.? and RH4.?. It was something on the lines of:- using YAST under
SuSE got wvdial to work with freeserve penny/min, but RedHat (could have
been the other way round) gave a lot of timed out operations and had to
be rerun many times before it connected. In the end, I had to configure
wvdial.conf, hosts.allow etc manually using notes from an old pcplus or
linux format magazine. 
	Perhaps it was a distribution implementation of wvdial, combined with
what hardware (early compaq laptop) that I had problem?
