Two things here - Not being able to write to /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES would
indicate that you don't have permissions to do this, or you don't have
rpm-build installed.
Second - rpm-4.1 uses db4 not db3 and so should be able to use the package
database concurrently with another rpm session. Is this a clean RH8.0 install
or did you do an "upgrade" from an earlier release ?
