O.k., rebooted, and...
quick check,
connected to share 'websites', try to copy a file into it and...
"Access denied" :-(
bugger!
O.k., done some more fiddling and removed another entry I found in fstab
which appeared to be mounting /dev/hda6 at another point (/mnt/win_e, I
think). Don't know why this should have caused problems, but removing it and
rebooting has allowed me to gain full access.
