The route I would go would be this - choose the camera you like, and see
if you can get a media reader. Now, I have a Fuji Finepix which does work
with Linux fine, but even if it didn't, I have got a Smartmedia reader
(which cost all of 20 quid or something) which does work with Linux, so
I can just plug my medea into the machine and let Nautilus take the
strain. It also means I don't need my camera plugged in and turned on.
Most USB stuff appears as 'mass storage' (i.e, like a hard drive), but it's
always worth checking first. Mac compatibility is always a useful sign,
but not something you can use 100%.
