Can anyone confirm whether ext3 is more aggressive about how it reuses
free'd inodes? I thought there were a few subtle differences.

In general I agree that it is still worth giving it a try.
Of course we are assuming this is a box that you can easily power off!

The one thing I try to avoid is entering paths during deletion beginning
from the front rather favouring to start with the name and then the front
of the path name - especially when being root - so as to avoid pressing
enter too soon or some such. I also try not to keep "rm" in my history.
