[Sheflug] Highpoint RocketRAID 133 card

Highpoint RocketRAID 133 card
I understand this is a 2-channel hardware RAID card, probably the
cheapest on the market. I only need 2 channels though.

Anyone know if it will work with SuSE Linux? [some people claim it will]
I have an onboard promise RAID controller but there are no open source
drivers and promise no longer seem to distribute binaries for it (it
doesn't seem to exist as far as they are concerned); also the binary
driver I've got was a) a complete hassle to use at install time and b)
won't work with later versions of SuSE or any other linux so far as I
know, so to keep my RAID array when I upgrade to 8.2 I need a hardware
raid card.

Do I have any chance of keeping my disks as they are and moving them
onto the new controller? Or will I have to backup the data and recreate
the array, reformat etc?

As far as I know, 3com and adaptec RAID cards are the other choice, but
these seem to be very expensive. No way will I buy promise again though.

cheers,

Matt.
