I'll try that.  I'd been using kate logged in as me and a su'ed command line
to cp files back to original location.  but it was a bit of a pain

having problems with Samba under Suse 8.2

The linux box can browse the shares on the windows PCs and it now appears in
the list of PCs in entire network on my windows box so I know the network
bit works fine but I can't see any user shares or global shares I've
created.
