If I'm looking at man pages (e.g. for smb.conf) is there any way I

Or do I just have to read right through it all?
Pressing / then typing the word you're after normally works. Depends
if you're using things non-standard to look at the man pages, but it
works on most implementations I think.
Depends on man pager settings - coming either from PAGER or MANPAGER
environment variable.
By default is usually /usr/bin/less.
in my man config file (/etc/man.config) I 've got PAGER set to
/usr/bin/less -isr
which I assume is a default, since I don't remember changing it :)
Best regards,
Denis.
