Lesser known, but just as important (and just for completeness sake):
df -i
Show inode use. It's not common, but it is possible to have lots of free
disk space, and still get the dreaded out of space error message. In these
situations, you've probably ran out of free inodes on the partition (each
file (and by this I mean file, socket, link, directory, ...) requires one
inode, regardless of size as it is the inode that holds metadata on the
file (owner, permissions, etc).
News spools will be more prone to this than anything else. As I say,
unlikely that anyone will bump into it in normal use though :)
