[Sheflug] MySQL
I've run into a wall (again) this time with an install of MySQL. Its on a
5GB/196MB/k6-400 laptop with Suse 8.2 on it. The mysqld keeps shutting
itself
down with the following error:
031008 13:23:19 mysqld started
/usr/sbin/mysqld: File './linux-bin.index' not found (Errcode: 13)
031008 13:23:19 Could not use linux-bin for logging (error 13)
031008 13:23:19 /usr/sbin/mysqld: Can't find file: './mysql/host.frm'
(errno:
13)
031008 13:23:19 mysqld ended
The file linux-bin.index does exist in /var/lib/mysql/
and host.frm exists in /var/lib/mysql/mysql
I've checked /etc/my.cnf to see if there is any reference to
/usr/sbin/mysqld
but there isn't. It seems that a path is set to this somewhere but I don't
know where.
I've run mysqld -b=/var/lib/mysql
but I get
mysqld:Fatal Error : Can't find messagefile
'=/var/lib/mysql/share/mysql/english/errmsg.sys'
but this file exists in /usr/share/mysql/english
which would presumably be picked up OK if I hadn't just changed the base dir
using the -b switch.
Aargh
Any hints appreciated.
