I'm actually running Xandros (Debian based), but I've done a distro upgrade using apt-get to debian unstable. but it doesn't seem to have given me all the latest goodies I was hoping for. Persumably it should be as simple as apt-get install KDE. Or am I missing something fundamental ? for ref I've included my sources.list file.

    Well, KDE is not yet in Testing (Sarge), which is what you have in
your /etc/apt/sources.list. I run KDE 3.1.4 on Sarge, but use the
KDE packages for Woody. KDE 3 has not yet entered Sarge).

    You can do that by instructing Debian to use a pick'n'mix approach
to packages.

    The whole article that tells you how to go about it is here:
    <http://es.kde.org/modules/sections/index.php?op=viewarticle&artid=19>

    It's written for 3.1.2, but works for 3.1.4 (I apt-get update'd
when I saw it fit :D).
