Yes I am aware that Yast is not covered by GPL.
However, the GPL forbids programs that _use_ the license to use other
licenses/conditions, or to restrict the gpl further (4, 6 and 7 items of
the GPL). 
Somehow I doubt they don't link GPL code at all.
Well, I am sure it's just me wondering and Suse thought trough all the
possible silly questions like mine.

100% agreed.
Just wanted to clarify things about "buying Suse linux to help Open
Source". It doesn't.
