FAI is pretty complicated, but seems quite mature and well tested (certainly 
for Beowulf type applications). You'll need to run DHCP, NFS and TFTP or 
floppy for the boot images. TBH I've not had too much luck making it work as 
I want, but it looks like it could be quite good.

Also once you get past the first part of the install (base system) you should 
be able to set the DEBIAN_FRONTEND variable to "noninteractive" to make any 
further packages install quietly (also see debconf(7)).
