What NIC are you using on the eth1. change it for a start and would
expect they are both the same make. 10/100mb or above?

Further to this I would try to use routerlinux install from

http://www.routerlinux.com/

download it and install it on your hard drive, compact flash card this
only needs 15mb - 11mb install.

But it can talk to CISCO routers.

you need to check the install readme for the hard drive

mount -o remount,rw /

This will allow you to write the config files, if you wish to ssh or use
hyper terminal then its best to alter the rc.local rc.firewall files
until you get it to work. The system can then be configured as a normal
CISCO router but you need to use a port number for each protocol.
