[Sheflug] install scripts

Is there such a thing as an install script or utility to create one for a
Linux such as Suse so that from the standard disks I can run a script that
will create PCs with identical setups? I know MS did something like this
but I've got no idea of how this might be done under Linux. What would be
nice would be a program that takes a snapshot of a basic install and a
snapshot of a completed install and records what changes have to be made to
create a completed install from a basic one. I'm going to set up a generic
office server but if I can automate the install for next time it would be
worth looking at creating a script this time.

Clear as mud, sorry!
