Hi Chris,

Blackboard is not open source, good but it costs, the college I work for
has paid more then £ 12,000 and the rest, for schools Moodle has the
same functions that would help teaching and learning providing easy
means of accessing learning material, assignments, quiz's, resources,
attendance, chat, and other new modules that are in development.

There must be many schools who would benefit from such an installation
running on hardware that can cope with small number of hits, my
understanding is that many school teachers are not aware or intend to
shy from such developments, not wishing to place there OWN learning
material on line. Such systems do not replace teachers but help in their
delivery and other such tasks, like pupil, student tracking of learning
progress.
