No offense to NetBSD intended, btw, it's obviously a very capable
system. I suspect the Linux vs. BSD stuff is 50% marketing at least, and
the rest is that Linux is probably slightly easier to work with due to
the vast number of embedded kernels, real time kernels, hardware drivers
and all the rest of it.
FWIW, people have been complaining about Linux becoming less and less
suitable for embedded work recently, I think mostly about the "bloat" in
2.6. In many ways, though, embedded devices are becoming far more
powerful and are scaling up to meet the needs of modern operating
systems, not the other way around. It's almost a moot point.
