Re: [Sheflug] WiFI Sheffield

Hi,
I know it's sort of off-topic, but I have found little information
on the availability of Wifi hotspots around Sheffield. The consume.net
website has some maps, but they are to be understood by only high
priests, or somesuch :-)

I also know that there's some access points in Burngreave (from
reading the list), but that's a tad far for my uses. Does anyone know
of any websites that offer simple maps (y'know, with streets in them
and that stuff) that show coverage? Or a list of nodes with their
address would be handy.

    Cheers,
    Jose
i've done a certain amount of consume-type activity in sheffield - and there are some photos here to prove it:

http://access.lowtech.org/consume/

the thing with a database/website of nodes is that is impossible to keep up to date. i have two nodes in the consume database - CMA1 and Jah Roots - but i would not advise that you try connecting to them these days.

for up-to-date information in your locality, why not take to the streets with a copy of kismet loaded on a laptop like this enterprising individual here:
