I will go and download the package. It has been suggested before, but noone
said it is only certified for Redhat 7 and I missed that. It's all a lot
clearer now I realise it's not meant to work.

Is it worth bringing the machine??? Someone could load up Redhat 7,
although it seems a retro move.

Right information about my system:

I have a 9.4gb hard drive, 2.1gb backup drive, cd player, cd writer and
floppy drive. 128mb memory, hoping to slot in a further 128 in the future.

In windows my modem is at com 4, which I understand is ttyS3. On another
forum I was asked to run setserial /dev/ttyS3 and got back
/dev/ttyS3, UART: unknown, Port: 0x02e8, IRQ: 3

Which I was told means the modem is not enabled in the hardware.

My present set up is dual boot and then

				mb
hda2 /boot 102
hda3 / 2141
hda4 extended 2620
hda5 /home 2102
hda6 swap 510
hdd1 /mnt/shared	2014

So I am online through the Windows 98 side, I will download the drive and
put it on my backup drive, which I think I should beable to access from
Redhat.

If this further information changes what you all told me above please let me
know.

Regards

Janet
