[Sheflug] IP cop stats
Does anyone know how to get stats out of IP cop to say how much data is
downloaded in a given 30 day period?
Or how much has been cached in a 30 day period?
I looked on the IP cop website but there didn't seem to be a forum I could
ask there.
I'm looking at broadband solutions and want to know if the 1GB limit some
service providers are using will effect me by measuring the amount of
browsing I currently do at work and comparing it with how much I might do at
home.
Anybody else got any stats for how many MB a "normal" months browsing is.
Obviously you'll have to give some idea of what internet use you consider
normal.
On the subject of IP cop and firewalls here's what happened to us last week:
Our firewall is run on an old Cyrix 6x86 133 with 64MB RAM. I've heard that
some firewalls have back doors but this was ridiculous! One of the blanking
plates on the back of the box was missing and a mouse had crawled inside and
then died. During my week off work the smell in the office had gradually
got worse and worse, probably aided by the PSU fan gently wafting the smell
around and the warmth of the CPU aiding the decomposition. The location of
the source of the smell was not identified until most of the trunking in the
room had been removed and, nothing found, replaced. In the end the firewall
PC was identified as the source of the smell and, after dismantling it and
finding the unsavoury ex mouse inside and stuck, rebuilt into a another
case. In the end our mouse had found a backdoor in our firewall and had
taken the offices internet access down for about half a day.
So the moral of the story (if there is one) is use your backing plates!
