[Sheflug] Backup hardware

At work we're having to look into re-structuring our backup strategy, and
it's come down to me to do so... What's needed is to back up a number of
Windows shares across the network every night, and the way I've been
thinking to do it is a dedicated Linux box running to do this. We have a PC
that's now sitting in the corner of my office cause it's too crap to
actually run any real software on, but that I reckon would be more than
adequate to burn a few gigs of files to tape every night.

My real question is to peoples experiences with the hardware side of things.
What can people recommend as a decent set of hardware to use on Linux
(Preferably Debian as it's the distro I know best, but whatever works really
if that makes any difference) that is capable of backing up upto 20GB of
data in a night.

Cheers
