[Sheflug] cd writing problem
Hello everyone,
I installed SuSE 9.1 via ftp some time back and all has been well
until 2 days ago. If I try to burn a cd with k3b or xcdroast, after it has
written about half the cd, the computer comes virtually to a stand still.
Clicking on anything takes an eternity to activate as does terminal commands,
eg top. In fact I've had to hard reboot at most times to get anywhere. I do
not have other applications running at the same time so memory shouldn't be
an issue. Dual 850 pentium, 768 mem. I've installed all the SuSE updates
available, perhaps there is a fault there.
The resulting cd ( I was picking odd tracks off several cd's to make one cd)
had a noise similar to a internet/moden noises instead of music.
The machine has dual boot with libranet 2.81 2.4 kernel on the second hard
drive. With libranet I had no problem writting the cd.
Anyone have any pointers?
Peter C
