[Sheflug] Redhat Enterprise 2.1 and graphics card compatability
Hi all.
I'm installing Redhat Enterprise Linux 2.1 on a Small from factor HP
Compaq D530 and the onboard graphics card is not recognised.
I've already installed Redhat 8 on this machine and there were no
problems then. The manufacturers spec says that the graphics card is an
"Intel Extreme Graphics 2 (integrated with Intel 865G chipset)"
This chipset is autoprobed on Redhat 8 as a 4MB VESA card and it works
flawlessly at 16bit 1024*768.
When I tried to install Redhat Enterprise 2.1 on this machine the
graphics card was not detected at all, and there is no VESA driver
available. I've tried a handful of the available drivers using
XConfigurator but none of them have worked at all so far.
Also. The anaconda installer provides a very nice way to select
graphics cards during the install, but I can't find anything apart from
XConfigurator that will let me change the graphics card configuration
after the install. Is there a way to run the anaconda utility without
actually doing an install, or is there a nice utility for graphics
configuration that I don't know about?
So any ideas? Has anyone else been able to get this graphics chipset
working?
Thanks in advance
Mark
