[Sheflug] Firewall blocks SMB from windows to Linux Samba despite port 139 listed in firewall settings
I've set up a cron to copy files from our main server (NT) to our
backup/mail server (SuSE 9) via an smb client. This works fine. Winclient
PCs can see the nt4 server. The linux box can see the NT 4 server. But
with the linux firewall turned on the winclients can't see the linux server.
When I had the firewall (the one shipped with SuSE 9) turned on I also added
ports 137,138 and 139 to be permitted but winclients still couldn't see the
linux box. Turning off the linux firewall makes it visible to the windows
PCs.
With the firewall on I can see the Linux shares from the linux box (using
konquerer and smb://linuxservr/share) but I need to enter a password for
every directory I browse into with the firewall on but its OK with it off!
What else should I have permitted inthe firewall to allow the win clients to
access the linux box via SMB???
Thanks
Chris Johnson
(No not that one, the other one!)
