I got a close look at this at the Linux World Expo in San Francisco last
year on the Sun stand. I have to say that having used the Mandrake,
SuSE, Fedora and Debian desktops I wasn't all that impressed. There's a
lot missing from the Sun Java desktop. I think the word "Enterprize
Version" comes to mind. Really meant to be used on a Starship ?
But, I think you also have to say that it's a good thing that the NHS
culture which is so difficult for the rest of us to understand is
showing interest in the Linux desktop. I've had a few years of
discussion with a fella from the Northern General who helps out with
meetings sometimes. He says it's hard to get NHS administrators to
understand anything about Linux at all. So, any interest is better than
none :)
Thanks
Richard
