In fact a quick linux google using php + mySQL turned up this

which looks like the thing you want.

Similarly searching for phpMyAdmin (because that site is under redevelopment) gave me access to this

and this

http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpmyadmin/

says it's platform independent.
