You could try a 4 way KVM switch from ebuyer for about £30 including 4 sets
of cables. Works well for me. My PII 350 is running suse 8 or 9 (can't
remember on that one quite happily although its not doing much at the moment
it did install with no problems.)
There are disto.'s on bootlable CDs that will do memory tests etc for you.
You could try www.distrowatch.com to find one. I remember from my dark days
of being paid to install windows 98 and previous versions that a dodgey
simm/dimm or whatever they were alled back then could screw up an install.
Might be worth making sure its not hardware before you spend ages trying
different drivers, especially as it crashed for both 98 and gnu/linux
Just found the distibution you could try:
http://www.sysresccd.org/
its 112MB and has memtest on it which should "test your memory for damage".
Chris Johnson
(No not that one, the other one!)
(running SUSE 9, 512MB PIII 600 (ish))
