Yes, but the program's environment will be different in each case. If
you use Chris's solution (which is perfect for what you want to do with
top, especially using the -s switch) then the environment in which your
program runs will be very simple. If you need a program to run with the
full environment of one of your users, the autologin approach is
sometimes necessary. I use it to launch an X windows session on small
devices.
