[Sheflug] setting x window screen res and refresh rate manually
I'm back in that position again with my Suse 9 box where running X results
in a blank screen and no way of getting out of it (switching to virtual
terminals doesn't help, ctrl alt del and ctrl alt back space have no
effect). I've set it to boot to level 3 so I can at least use the command
line when required but I'd like to be able to use KDE again. Last week I
managed to run sax2 and reset the screen resolution and monitor settings but
since last Wednesday even running sax2 results in a blank screen.
Everything else seems to carry on working fine, mail still goes out, the
machine still responds to pings and the cron tasks still run.
Can someone remind me which files contain the default resolution and refresh
rates for graphical mode so I can try resetting them manually. The same
screen runs fine when connected to other PCs (its on a KVM switch)
