I assume you mean that server1 is an authoritative primary dns server
for abc.com. If I assumed wrong then my answer below won't make proper
sense.

I think you need to read the bind documentation a bit more, though I do
understand that this is a boring task.

If you're setting up server1 as a dns server, it can serve its own name
(and should) so you don't need to put it in /etc/hosts. If you have

order hosts,bind

in /etc/resolv.conf 

then server1 will query the dns server located at its own IP to find out
what its name is, and what domain it is part of.

So, the answer is don't put server1 in /etc/hosts at all and get your
bind setup right.
