For PHP my favourite by far is the Zend Development Environment from 
www.zend.com

It has some nice features like on-the-fly syntax checking that underlines 
mistakes, documentation features, profiler, debugger etc. Other PHP editors 
do some of these but none have such good value for money.

It's not free but it's reasonably priced, your purchase supports the people 
who brought you PHP and helps ensure PHPs future, and it'll save you its 
purchase cost in increaseed productivity.
