The way to get it used in schools is to sell a box on its functionality
not its OS.

You need a box to mirror data from an existing server?
Or an extra server on the same subnet as the PCs used for video editing?

Don't say "We'll install Suse 9.3 with Samba and ldap and LVM"
Say "I've got a server that has 100GB of disk space free. We can use
that."

Don't say I'm going to install a windows based firewall (oxymoron) or
I'm going to install Linux firewall. Just say "I'm going to install a
firewall"

Less is more.

A company selling Linux to schools in the London boroughs found this to
work. Black boxes with no badges and importantly no mention of linux,
just a long list of the features the box provides and the benefits these
bring to the school .
