[Sheflug] digikam printing problem

When trying to print a photo from digikam, it takes for ever and a day to 
bring up the preview. The printer lights then flash for ages after which 
nothing happens. Other programs are ok.

This happens on both SuSE 9.3 and Ubuntu. The normal print dialogue box comes 
up, showing the printer queue and cups printing system. I can alter setting 
to the printer from here and all is set as per other programs.

I must add that the printer is setup using turboprint,  because a driver for 
the printer is not available under linux. Hours of googling gave me some 
workarounds but they all lacked full usability, hence turboprint.
