Heya Ted,

I found the same problem with my HP DJ5650 when I first upgraded from 
Hoary to Breezy, the printer didn't respond, and 
System->Administration->Printing wouldn't start because it couldn't find 
a cups server.  I did 'apt-get install cupsys'  and my printer jumped 
into life as soon as it had finished installing and printed everything 
that I'd been trying to send to print before.  For some reason the 
cupsys package didn't survive the Hoary->Breezy upgrade.
