Hi Alec, David & Marc,
Well I haven't changed anything, but something is definitely different.
Before working thorough your emails, I tried sending an email to
myself. This time it worked. But still not able to access any
webpages. Get the message 'www.google.co.uk could not be found. Please
check the name & try again'.
I pinged google and put www.google.com in the box and it brought up
216.239.59.99.
I also pinged three addresses, the gateway and DNS servers, as far as I
can tell they are fine with 4 packets sent and received.
I also opened Mozilla and typed in those ip addresses. Well the google
ones work. Ebay doesn't, although it most know the numbers are for
ebay because it say ebay could not be found! And the strangest one is
I typed in my isp and a said 'no website configured at this address,
www.v21.co.uk.
The 'router status' page has all the bits filled in
downstrem connecton speed 2272kbps
upstream conection speed 288 kbps
The connection status box opened and was all filled in.
Firmware version v2.10.22
Router firmware 3.02.06.00
It's not a wireless router.
The 'remote management' box is not ticked, so I presume I'm safe????
Someone also mentioned disabling outbound services. How do I do that
and which ones. (I'll do that after I have it working)
Is this then something to do with DNS and how do I sort it out?
Thank you in advance.
Regards
Janet
