Back in 2001-2 I bought 7 DNUK machines and thought they were brilliant.
They were very helpful and happy to setup the machines as dual boot Windows
& Linux (RedHat) as per my exact instructions, and the price was reasonable.
They came with 3 years Collect & Return Warranty and when the MB died on
one a couple of years later it was collected and returned within 3 days (amazing!)
However, over the last few months 4 of them have expired (2 more MBs and 2
exploding Power Supplies). They were all 4.0-4.3 years old, I have one left at 4.5,
and the other 2 are slightly younger (I'm waiting with bated breath for them to
reach the magic 4 years.) Of course, by this age they're getting a bit long-in-the-tooth
performance wise, but I have plenty of Viglen & Dell machines around that are lots
older and still hobbling along.
I agree with Dave about Transtec, very high quality and good service (I have a
server from them that's still going strong after 5 years), and I've bought lots of SCSI
drives from them for our Unix boxes. They prefer SuSE, but will do RedHat.
Bit pricier than DNUK but still very reasonable and always helpful. All the hardware is
shipped out of Germany, so not very local (UK sales & help people though.)
Cheers, Jan
