Aha! That showed me the PHP module wasn't installed. It is now, and 
seems to be working :-)  Thankyou!

Indeed. Very useful!

did that, got:
Module include installed; run /etc/init.d/apache2 force-reload to 
enable.

so I did the force-reload ...

O.k, restarted Apache ... and includes are still not working.

D'oh! :-(

I'll make a note :-)

I've just taken a look in /etc/apache2/sites-available/ - there's just 
the one file: "default". I can't see anything in it that looks as if 
it will enable SSIs.
Anything else I can tweak?
