The application or the map data?

The application - not often.

The map data - as and when they get it from their sources I guess. The area
around where I live has just been updated. Quite odd really, my house in the
middle with lots of clear pictures around it, but stray too far in any
compass direction and it goes all horrid. Wonder if they're watching :)
