[Sheflug] Linux CNC control - EMC2
Does anyone have any knowledge / interest in Linux CNC setups, or of a fairly
locally based company which specialises in this sort of thing?
I'm looking to switch our Peddinhaus CNC machines from the standard Siemens
based systems to use the EMC software from linuxcnc.org - I've installed the
Ubuntu based package, and can buy supported servo cards, but it's the
interfacing of these with the high power motor controllers (Simodrive and IIRC
Baumwoller) & feedback sensors (Heidenhain rotary units) which is likely to
take the time. Obviously, it's a commercial setup so we'd expect to pay for
the work.
We've already cut out the Strucad post-processors and Peddimat software, with
our own software, using LTSP diskless workstations to feed the Siemens
system, but want to go further and eliminate the antiquated "black boxes" for
which the specs aren't generally available.
Regards,
Graham Allott
