I like to use some of the Gnome stuff but I use most of the KDE
components every day of the week. So after installing Ubuntu I do
something like...

apt-get install kde kdm koffice kubuntu-desktop

That installs most of KDE. Of course, we are assuming that you have
broadband at home to do this. This seems to get around the bugs that
come with Kubuntu installation but then you end up with some other
which can be solved after some work. For example, the spampd bug
that I was suffering with.

Most things work on my desktop and workstation now :) Just got some
weird issue with Skype and my Logitech webcam but I think most people
have anyway.
