Re: [Sheflug] Network routing problem

Hi David

I'll point out, in case this is contributing to things not working, that
your post isn't clear about what wired machines are in your garage:

> There's a laptop in the garage with an ethernet card in (eth0 192.168.0.5).

> ping 192.168.1.5 (the other wired machine in the garage)

I'm guessing the first IP was a typo and wired machine==laptop, but just
in case...

Set all the wired machines (incl laptop) in the garage to be on
192.168.1.* with a netmask of 255.255.255.0 and gateway of 192.168.1.3.

Be sure to check the gateway setting because if it's wrong then you'll
still be able to ping to the same subnet (which you can) but not to
elsewhere (which you can't).

If the IPs and netmasks are right then it sounds like an iptables issue.
You could try downloading one of the Linux live CDs/floppies that will
give you a router that boots from a CD, just as a way of checking if
that's the problem.

Gary
