[Sheflug] PMap output?

Is there anyone on the list who can interpret the output from a pmap command run on a tomcat server?

We are having occasional 'permgen: out of memory' problems with our application. Recently I ran the pmap utility on our server and got a lengthy output, which I piped into a file. Rather than broadcast this, I thought I'd first ask if anyone has any experience of interpeting pmap output.

The environment is Fedora Core 6, Tomcat 6.0.10, JVM 1.6.0-b105. The OS is reporting itself as being version 2.6.20-1.2944.fc6; as I say, it certainly started life as Fedore Core 6. These problem occur when I am deploying revised insatnces of the application onto the server (it holds a number instances of our app, each instance for different customers, and each instance has very low to low usage at any given moment).

Incidentally, I'm not a developer so I can't say anything about the garbage collection issue - I'm just the system manager.
