The main difficult question was probably how to introduce free
software into schools. Lobbying people in IT departments might not be
all that effective, since in my experience even IT staff often don't
get to decide fundamentals such as what operating systems the
organisation runs on - these things may just be handed down from
higher management or local authority echelons, in accordance with
deals with suppliers, subcontractors or policy makers.
A good way to promote GNU/Linux if you have a laptop or netbook is
just to take it to work or school with you and use it regularly and
conspicuously. That way people get to see that it's not something
terribly exotic and hard to use as detractors frequently claim.
Compiz fusion also impresses people who have never seen it before, and
I've had people say "why can't Windows do that?" on a few occasions.
