Yes.  It's becoming a lot more commonplace on the desktop than it used 
to be :)  For Ubuntu users shoot 'em up games like Alien Arena, 
Nexuiz and Tremulous make for exciting entertainment.  But, I suppose 
that since the gaming market is mostly Xbox or PSP or PS3 then the 
blind people who use such things will never look beyond the end of 
the table.  

It's starting to get to the point where desktop Linux is really 
starting to knock winduhs and Mac.  No wonder Microsoft are 
panicking.  As to whether the KDE4 desktop will make desktop Linux 
popular remains to be seen.  The increase in popularity should happen 
at some time in the next three years.
