[Sheflug] Neo FreeRunner/OpenMoko
Hi
Since we seem to have been sidetracked off into this after starting a
discussion about BarCamp in Sheffield this weekend I thought I might as
well add on a few more interesting bits to do with it. Just now the
iPhone (competition) is being slanged in the press....

Meanwhile the OpenBSD people have started to take an interest....
http://openmoko.kd85.com/
" If you are like me tired of waiting for overpriced shiny hardware
(For example: EUR 600 for an iPhone, 6 weeks waiting list...) and
being locked in by proprietary applications and restrictive licenses,
then join us in developing an open platform for phones. Currently
running Linux but there is interest in getting OpenBSD running on
these "
So, like myself they think that WinCE is not the answer. My own
personal point of view about mobile devices is that any software that
is on them should be severely hardened. Such as FreeBSD or NetBSD but
OpenBSD would be fine.
After all, the whole point of open source operating systems is that
you are given a choice of what you use and where you use it. It's up
to you to decide where and how it will be used.
